              ANNOUNCES QUARTERLY CASH DIVIDEND



Darien, Connecticut....Air Express International (Nasdaq-NMS:
AEIC) announced today that its Board of Directors has declared
a quarterly cash dividend of five cents ($.05) per share.  The
dividend is payable on October 31, 1997, to shareholders of
record on October 10, 1997.  

Based in Darien, Connecticut, AEI is an integrated logistics
company offering international air and ocean forwarding,
customs brokerage, warehousing and distribution, and
information services through its worldwide network of 600
locations in 135 countries.  AEI reported gross revenues of
$1.3 billion and net income of $38.5 million or $1.72 per
share in 1996.
