AIR EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL (AEI) ANNOUNCES
QUARTERLY CASH DIVIDEND

        DARIEN, CT, April 16, 1998 -- Air Express International Corporation
(AEI) (Nasdaq-NMS:  AEIC) declared a quarterly cash dividend of five cents
($.05) per share.  The dividend is payable on April 24, 1998 to shareholders
of record on April 3, 1998.
        AEI is a leading worldwide provider of freight transportation and
related logistics services.  The Company offers fully integrated international
air and ocean freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing and
distribution, and information services through its global network of 711
cities in 135 countries.
