          ATLANTIS PLASTICS ENGAGES ERNST & YOUNG AS 
          THE COMPANY'S 1998 INDEPENDENT ACCOUNTANTS  
                                
ATLANTA, GA - (April 8, 1998) Atlantis Plastics, Inc. (ASE:AGH) today announced
that as of April 6, 1998, the Company's Board of Directors engaged Ernst &
Young LLP as the Company's new independent public accountants, effective for
the 1998 fiscal year.  In addition to all public accounting matters, Ernst &
Young LLP will handle Atlantis' tax filings.  

Previously, Atlantis' public accounting matters were handled by Coopers and
Lybrand L.L.P. and its tax filings by Arthur Anderson LLP.  There were no
disagreements between Atlantis Plastics, Inc. and Coopers and Lybrand L.L.P.
reportable under SEC form 8-K. 

Atlantis Plastics, Inc. is a leading U.S. manufacturer of polyethylene stretch
and custom films and molded plastic products. Stretch films are used
principally to wrap pallets of materials for shipping or storage, and custom
films, which are made-to-order specialty film products, are used in the
industrial and packaging markets.  Atlantis' molded plastic products are used
primarily by original equipment manufacturers in the appliance, automotive,
agricultural, and recreational vehicle industries.
