(ASE:AGH) today announced that, based on preliminary estimates, its income from continuing operations for the first quarter ended March 31, 1998 is expected to be approximately $0.20 to $0.22 per diluted share, compared to a loss from continuing operations in the first quarter of 1997 of $0.10 per diluted share. These results are higher than current analysts' estimates of $0.10 per share of income from continuing operations for the first quarter of 1998. The Company's first quarter results were positively impacted by improved gross margins in its stretch and custom film businesses. The Company expects to report its quarterly results in late April 1998, and an analysts conference call will be scheduled at that time.
