(ASE:AGH) today announced that it has received the 1997 Quality Improvement Award from the State of Indiana which is given to Hoosier organizations which have demonstrated significant and measurable progress in achieving stated quality improvement goals. The award is administered by the Indiana Business Modernization and Technological Corporation, and was presented by Lt. Governor Joseph E. Kernan to Atlantis' profile extrusion unit located in Elkhart, IN. John Geary, Vice President and General Manager of the Company's Molded Products unit and seven associates received the award on behalf of the Company. Prior recipients include Delco Electronics, Allied Signal, GTE, and Rockwell International. Atlantis received the 1997 Award based on improvement in several criteria. For example from 1995 to the recent year-to-date period, sales improved 13%, controllable operating income increased 22%, returns as a percentage of sales dropped 24%, on-time delivery increased 21%, and labor productivity increased 48%.
