              BISCAYNE APPAREL APPOINTS PRESIDENT 
                                
CLIFTON, NJ - (November 13, 1997) Biscayne Apparel, Inc. (ASE:BHA) today
announced that it has appointed Peter "Chip" Vandenberg, Jr. (42), as President
and Chief Financial Officer. Vandenberg, a certified public accountant, joined
the Company in January 1987, and has served as Vice President (Executive Vice
President since December 1996), Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer since
that time. He was appointed a director of the Company in November 1994. 

Mr. Vandenberg served in various capacities with Peat Marwick from December
1977 until January 1987, and was a senior manager of that firm from July 1984
until joining the Company. Vandenberg received a Bachelor of Science degree in
accounting from William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ. He will continue to
report to Earl W. Powell, the Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
who will relinquish the office of President to Vandenberg. 

Earl Powell, Biscayne's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer commented, "We are
very pleased to appoint Chip Vandenberg as President of our Company. It is a
fitting recognition of his long service and increased management
responsibilities. Chip's leadership is a key component in implementing the
Company's operational strategies for both growth and profitability."
