BLYTH INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES RECORD DATE 
FOR ANNUAL MEEETING

GREENWICH, CT, February 18, 2000:  Blyth Industries, Inc. (NYSE: BTH) today
announced that the date of its Annual Meeting of Stockholders will be June 14,
2000.  The meeting will take place at the Greenwich Library, 101 West Putnam
Avenue, Greenwich, CT  06830, commencing at 9:00 a.m.  All stockholders of
record as of April 17, 2000 will be eligible to vote.
