Comptek Awarded 5-Year Contract from the U.S. Army to
Design and Operate Threat Simulation Center
BUFFALO, NY, April 4, 2000, - Comptek Research, Inc. (Amex: CTK)
today announced it has received a five-year contract valued up to
$29.8 million from the United States Army to provide engineering
services and scientific expertise to analyze, design, develop and
support the U.S. Army's Threat Systems Program.
Under this contract, Comptek will operate the Joint Threat Modeling
and Simulation Center (JTMSC) and the Threat Visual Simulation Lab.
The JTMSC provides the infrastructure, facilities, computers and
processes required to operate the large-scale simulations used to
support developmental testing/operational testing for simulation-
based acquisition programs. In addition, Comptek will operate the
Threat Node, specifically designed to support the development of
real-time simulations for training, test and evaluation, and
concept evaluation. The Threat Node provides users with a 3-
dimensional virtual reality environment for advanced simulation
exercises.
John J. Sciuto, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of
Comptek Research, Inc., said, "This contract testifies to Comptek's
expanding position as a prominent leader in electronic warfare
systems. Our expertise in simulation, systems and engineering and
integration, and software design enables Comptek to be the sole
provider of these highly specialized services in niche areas
worldwide."
Comptek's subsidiary, Comptek Amherst Systems, Inc. - Huntsville,
Alabama Operations, will be responsible for the contract
performance. This indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity
(ID/IQ) contract calls for the Army to place specific individual
orders with Comptek during the multi-year performance period.
Comptek acquired the assets and business operations Amherst Systems
in March 1999. Founded in 1975, Amherst Systems has an established
record in the electronic combat community for its design and
development of technically advanced simulator and signal
measurement systems to solve real-time application problems.
Comptek Research, Inc., with subsidiary locations in the United
States and Canada, is a domestic and international supplier of
technically advanced electronics and data communications systems to
government and industry.
