CRYPTOGRAPHY SOFTWARE OF CTT CLIENT TO BE USED UNDER
DMOD AND LYCOS AGREEMENT

Fairfield, CT - (March 7, 2000) - Competitive Technologies, INC. (AMEX: CTT) announced today that Digital Media On Demand, Inc. (DMOD) recently reported that the encryption technology of CTT's client, NTRU Cryptosystems, Inc. is being utilized under the agreement between DMOD and Lycos, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCOS). DMOD has agreed that its secure media distribution software technology, including NTRU cryptography software, will be used by Lycos within its Sonique Media Player to perform secure downloads of digital music. Digital Media On Demand offers unique technologies for digital content creators, distributors and gatekeepers. DMOD reported that its strength, however, is its unparalleled encryption technology. Working with NTRU Cryptosystems, Inc. creators of the world's fastest public key cryptography system, DMOD has become the only company encrypting files "on the fly." The patent-pending multiple key encryption technology offers content developers the ability to mark and protect up to one key per second per digital file for enhanced security, making illegal use virtually impossible and extremely time consuming. With more and more music being distributed via the Internet, for example, security becomes an extremely important issue to record labels, producers and artists alike.

DMOD also reported forming an agreement with Lycos, one of the world's most visited Web destinations, to enable their popular Sonique Media Player with DMOD's secure distribution technology. DMOD's client software will give users of the Sonique Media Player access to DMOD-enabled content and the ability to perform secure downloads of digital music. Brian Kalinowski, director of digital rights management for Lycos commented in the DMOD release "Lycos is committed to providing users with an open format environment for digital music playback. DMOD's approach effectively complements our strategy of providing secure distribution regardless of file format. The Sonique Media Player will improve its universal appeal with this added capability." Brett Fasullo, DMOD's Chief Operating Officer commented further in the release, "This is another example of Lycos leading the way for the adoption of digital downloading as a viable commercial model. We're excited Lycos sees the potential benefit of the integration of DMOD technologies to making that happen."
