Cody Director, Corporate Communications (518) 798-1215 Ext. 140 ANGIODYNAMICS SIGNS EXCLUSIVE JAPANESE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT Queensbury, NY, February 2, 1998. AngioDynamics, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of E-Z-EM, Inc. (Amex: EZM.A and EZM.B) has announced it has entered into an exclusive five year agreement with Eiken Kizai Co., Ltd. for distribution of AngioDynamics peripheral vascular products in Japan. Eiken Kizai is a Tokyo based manufacturer and distributor of medical devices and is an Eiken Group Company. The Eiken Group is a large, well established and respected manufacturer of iodinated compounds for X-ray diagnosis and contrast media for MRI diagnosis. Eiken Kizai has formed a separate business unit to focus on the distribution of endovascular products. Eamonn P. Hobbs, AngioDynamics president and ceo said: "The agreement with Eiken Kizai is a commitment for both companies to continue expanding our business in Japan. AngioDynamics is serious about our business in Japan and we have invested considerable resources to meet the specific needs of our Japanese customers." Michael Dellario, AngioDynamics director, business development said: "Eiken Kizai has done a good job of developing the renal dialysis market. We believe Japan has the world's largest population of patients, estimated to be more than 150,000, with end-stage renal disease. Our Pulse*Spray Infusion system is proving to be effective in maintaining dialysis access in this patient group. The recent FDA clearance of our Pulse*Spray Injector should expedite the registration process in Japan. This injector is anticipated to be used for dialysis access maintenance and drug delivery into the liver. We intend to offer more products to treat these end-stage renal dialysis patients. The distribution of medical products in Japan is very complex and involves multiple layers of sub-distributors. Eiken Kizai acting as both our importer and exclusive distributor will allow us to conduct more effective training, improve communications and expedite the product registration process." Takashi Sato, Eiken Kizai president said: "I am very happy that Eiken Kizai Co., Ltd. has established a contractual agreement in the field of endovascular products with AngioDynamics, Inc. a company with great technical strengths. Based on this firm partnership with AngioDynamics, Eiken Kizai aims to further improve our organization and sales capacity, while pursuing business development in the vascular field. In Japan, especially, the IVR market is expanding, and I believe that we will be fully able to meet the expectations held by AngioDynamics."
