Jacor: Jacor Announces Promotions Contact: Pam Taylor 606.655.6523 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JACOR ELEVATES WINKEY TO IOWA RADIO LORD & LUMINELLO ELEVATED TO IDAHO RADIO "KING OF EM ALL Y'ALL" COVINGTON, KY February 1, 1999: Jacor Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: JCOR) today anointed Steve Winkey "Lord of Iowa Radio." Winkey becomes the Iowa Market Manager and takes over responsibility for every Jacor radio station in the state. The Jacor veteran has been training for the post since 1997 when he took over as Market Manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Burlington and Ft. Madison. Winkey now adds Des Moines, the market hub, to his fiefdom. Winkey will also oversee day to day operations in Des Moines until he fills the vacant GM post in that market. According to Jay Meyers, Senior Vice President, "No one knows the Iowa radio market better than Steve. This promotion is long overdue. But I'm a little afraid this "lord" thing has gone to his head. He insists that everyone kneel and kiss his ring. " Said Winkey, "Lord of Iowa Radio" is a decent gig. One of my first goals is to expand the kingdom...I'm thinking of annexing Wisconsin and Minnesota. I hear the duck hunting is good up there and, believe it or not, Jacor doesn't own any stations in either state. Go figure. Randy must not like cold weather." In further news from an "I" state, Jacor announced that Boise Market Manager Dick Luminello has been promoted to "King of 'Em All Y'All" for Idaho. The promotion reflects Luminello's responsibilities which include overseeing all of the Jacor properties in the state, including those in Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello as well as Boise. On this promotion Meyers said, "It1s the title Dick asked for, honoring his fondness for soul singer Arthur Conley's hit 'Sweet Soul Music.' Besides the guy's built like a lineman for the Denver Broncos. You try and turn him down!" Commented Luminello, "I can't wait to go home and tell my wife, if I could just get this darned crown off my head. They frown on it in Idaho if you drive a car with it on. The jewels create a glare for oncoming motorists." Jacor is the nation's second largest radio company measured by total stations. Including announced pending acquisitions, Jacor now owns, operates or represents 246 radio stations along with WKRC-TV in Cincinnati and WDFM-TV in 63 broadcast areas. Additionally, Jacor and its wholly owned subsidiary Premiere Radio Networks combine to form the third largest provider of syndicated radio programming in the country, syndicating the nation's leading radio talk shows which include The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Dr. Laura Schlessinger Show, Dr. Dean Edell and Art Bell's overnight programs, "Dreamland" and "Coast to Coast." Jacor also owns NSN Network Services, a satellite systems integration company that provides design, communications technology and support to establish and maintain global satellite connectivity to companies worldwide. Jacor plans to pursue growth through continued acquisitions of complementary radio stations in existing broadcast locations, and radio groups or individual stations with significant presence in other attractive domestic and international locations. Additionally, Jacor plans to grow in other broadcast related products and businesses. On October 8, 1998 Jacor and Clear Channel Communications, Inc. (NYSE: CCU) announced the signing of a definitive merger agreement for a tax-free, stock-for-stock transaction. The transaction is pending.
