(Nasdaq: JCOR) today signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire KNIX-FM 102.5 and KESZ-FM 99.9 from Owens Broadcasting and OwensMAC Radio for a total price of $142 million. Owens Broadcasting, owned by country singer Buck Owens and his family Michael Owens, Buddy Owens and Mel Owens, has operated KNIX for over 30 years. The station is one of America's heritage country music stations. KNIX has won numerous national awards and has led the Phoenix radio market in ratings, revenue and community service for decades. KESZ is owned by OwensMAC Radio, a partnership formed in 1997 between Owens Broadcasting and MAC America Communication, Inc. both long-time Phoenix family-owned companies. MAC America is owned by Delbert and Jewell Lewis and their children. In just over a year, under the OwensMAC partnership, KESZ has become the top-rated station in Phoenix. Jacor Chief Executive Officer Randy Michaels said, "KNIX and KESZ are first class radio stations. We're proud to add them to our Phoenix presence."
