(Nasdaq: JCOR) has signed a definitive agreement to sell WZAZ-FM to Blue Chip Broadcasting, LTD of Cincinnati, Ohio. The $10.1 million cash transaction is another step in Jacor's realignment of its Columbus radio station group in order to finalize the pending purchase of Nationwide Communications, Inc. In October 1997 Jacor announced it had signed a letter of intent to purchase Nationwide's entire station portfolio for $620 million. Nationwide operates 17 stations in 9 broadcast areas, including three stations in Columbus, Ohio where Jacor already operates six stations. The transaction is subject to regulatory review and several conditions including but not limited to Jacor's closing of the Nationwide transaction. The Crisler Company acted as an agent in the transaction. Blue Chip Broadcasting is one of the largest African-American owned radio operators in the country. The company owns WCKX-FM and WMXG-FM, the major Urban stations in the Columbus market. In addition the Blue Chip roster includes the leading Urban stations in the Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky markets. Jacor is the nation's second largest radio company measured by total stations. Including announced pending acquisitions, Jacor now owns, operates or represents 203 radio stations in 55 broadcast areas and WKRC-TV in Cincinnati.
