CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO, Covington, KY April 6, 2000: Clear Channel Radio Senior Vice President John Hogan today named Jeff Wilson to Vice President & Market Manager of the companys growing Monterey/Salinas/Santa Cruz, California cluster. Wilson will oversee all stations in the combined markets including top rated KDON 102.5. The move to Monterey is a short one up the California coastline for the twenty-year radio veteran. Until Hogan tapped him for the VP/Market Manager post, Wilson was Director of Clear Results Marketing-West in
San Diego, a Clear Channel marketing subsidiary. According to Hogan, "Jeffs been around the business a long time in just about every position out there - from on-air talent to controller, general sales manager, marketing director and finally Vice President/Market Manager. One of these days were bound to find something he can do."
Throughout his career Wilson has criss-crossed the country like a "Ten Most Wanted" fugitive including stints in markets as diverse as Milwaukee, Birmingham, Sacramento and Cincinnati. Wilson even worked directly for Clear Channel Radio President Randy Michaels in the early 1980s when Michaels was filling in as Program Director and Wilson was on the air in Columbus. Says Michaels, "Im pleased to see someone with Jeffs talent move up through the ranks. I think he was afraid I was going to fire him when I caught him and some young co-ed in the WTVN music library at one in the morning years ago. But he was just a kid. Plus, hes been cutting my grass ever since."
Wilson is excited about the new position. "Im thrilled and honored to be on the Clear Channel team, blazing new trails and boosting this industry through its most profound renaissance. These are GREAT times for broadcasters! " Wilson added that he plans to pre-announce any overnight tours of his new stations to his staff.
